This qualification will develop your practical skills and knowledge to meet the emotional, physical and social needs of the ageing population. You will develop skills in communication, empowerment techniques and how to work effectively in a direct support role and support activities of daily living within the residential and community sectors. You will learn how to work within the care setting to deliver quality care, enhance community integration, and develop a firm understanding of the legal and ethical requirements for working in residential and aged care services.
The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) addresses the requirements to work primarily in residential facilities and supporting care roles within the community services sector, under direct supervision or regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. It will equip you to capably and skillfully undertake a range of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Carrying out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities for people living in a residential or home and community services settings;
- Develop reflective practice;
- Carrying out activities related to an individualised plan;
- Reporting directly to a supervisor with no responsibilities for other workers.
