This qualification will enhance your practical skills and knowledge to develop services and programs to meet the emotional, physical and social needs of people within a disability setting. You will develop skills in advanced communication, empowerment techniques and how to design processes to support daily living activities. You will learn how to design and deliver programs that are accessible and enhance community integration, and develop an understanding of the legal and ethical requirements for working in a disability sector.
The Certificate IV in Disability addresses the requirements to work primarily in residential group homes, training resource centres, day respite centres and open employment services, other community settings and clients’ homes. It will equip you to capably and skillfully undertake a range of tasks including, but not limited to:
- Applying knowledge and skills gained through qualifications and/or previous experience to provide training and support to people with disabilities to enhance their ability to achieve greater level of independence, self-reliance and community participation;
- Reporting to service managers and may liaise with health professionals and other service
Agencies; - How to work without direct supervision and be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of lower classified support workers.
